PROPERTIES OF TRIGGERED MULTI-WIRE SPARK COUNTERS OF THE ROSENBLUM TYPE AND OF PARALLEL-PLATE SPARK COUNTERS

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instr. Methods
A study is made of the properties of triggered multiwire spark counters consisting of a wire grid and a flat metal plate. These properties are compared with those of a parallel-plate spark counter. Measurements are carried out on the effects of the polarity, duration and delay of the high-voltage pulse, clearing field, separation between the electrodes, and air content. A simple explanation is given for the effects of the clearing field and the delay of the high-voltage pulse. (auth)
