INDUSTRIAL ACTIVATION ANALYSIS UNIT WITH 14-Mev NEUTRON GENERATOR AND ITS APPLICATIONS. HIGHLY ACCURATE NEW MONITORING SYSTEM SHORTENS TO ONE MINUTE THE TIME OF DETERMINING AMOUNT OF OXYGEN IN MATERIALS

Journal Article · · Toshiba Rev., Intern. Ed.
OSTI ID:4126680
>An inexpensive, rapid, nondestructive activation analysis unit for industrial purposes, which utilizes a 14-Mev neutron generator, is described and its applications cited. The device is completely automated, with all the processes of anaiysis being controlled by two operations, Reset and Start, alone. The device is na pi aed C-R neutron monitoring system (or automatic normalizing unit). By means of this device, the oxygen contents in coal, pure materials, and metals have been determined, the required time being about one minute. The maximum practical sensitivity of the method is 10 ppm at a neutron output of 10/ sup 10/ neutron/ sec, and the precision at this level is plus or minus 15%. (P.C.H.)
