A heat exchanger is designed comprising a nest of tubes with one fluid flowing through the tubes and another fluid flowing in the opposite direction over the outer tube surfaces. The tubes have attached helical fins and longitudinal baffles, the baffles serving as interlocking members that form a series of enclosed channels for passage of the second fluid. ( D.L.C.)
