An apparatus for nuclear logging of boreholes is described which has a pair spectrometer in compact form. The apparatus comprises a housing, a neutron source, two scintillation detectors, one having a composite phosphor of long and short decay times and the othei having a single short-decay-time phosphor, circuit means for separating the pulses from the composite phosphor, a coincidence circuit, and a pulse analyzing and recording system.
