An apparatus, which utilizes araplitude-time discrimination to separate out gamma background from fast neutrons in a scintillation spectrometer, is described. The electronics portion of the resolution system is shown in a block diagram. It consists of a resolving circuit, a resolution channel, a time-delay channel, and a coincidence circuit. The operation of the resolution system is illustrated by an oscillograph display which shows the separation of neutron and gamma pulses resulting from a Po-Be source. The resolution and scintillation spectrometer thresholds of the system were found to be 20 and 80 kev, respectively. The resolution apparatus was found to operate well as long as the integral load did not exceed 4000 pulses/sec. (TTT)
