TRIHYDROXYFLUORONES AS PHOTOMETRIC REAGENTS FOR NIOBIUM (in Ukrainian)

Journal Article · · Dopovidi Akad. Nauk Ukr. RSR
OSTI ID:4122179
Sixteen derivatives of 2, 3, 7-trihydroxy-6-fluorone were studied as reagents for the photometric determination of niobium. Niobium reacts with trihydroxyfluorones in acid media. The absorption spectra of the niobium complexes are displaced more to the longwave region in phosphoric acid than in sulfuric or hydrochloric acid solutions. The ratio of Nb to reagents in the complexes is 1:2. Colored solutions of complexes stabilized by gelatine follow Beer's law. All of the investigated compounds can be used as reagents for niobium but the best are 9-(o-nitrophenyl)trihydroxylfluorone ( epsilon of the complex 5.05 x 10/sup 4/ for 515 m mu ) and 9-( BETA -hydroxy- alpha -naphthyl)- trihydrofluorone ( epsilon of the complex 5.17 x 10/sup 4/ for 510 m mu ).
