4-($alpha$-PYRIDYLAZO)-RESORCINOL--A SENSITIVE REAGENT FOR THE PHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF INDIUM (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Zh. Analit. Khim.
OSTI ID:4772444
A sensitive reagent, 4-( alpha -pyridylazo)-resorcinol, is suggested for the photometric determination of indium. Optimum conditions of complexing at pH 8 to 8 were found, and the composition of the complex was established. The molar extinction coefficient of the complex at the maximum absorption ( lambda = 500 m mu ) is 32800. Solutions of the indium complex follow Beer's law in the range 5 to 120 mu g/25 ml of In. A photometric method was developed for In determination in solutions of pure salts and in industrial materials. The method permits the determination of microgram amounts of In in the presence of small amounts of Cd, Zn, Al, Mn, Cr, Cu, Sn, and Pb. (auth)
