PLUTONIUM OXIDATION-REDUCTION TITRATIONS
Technical Report

OSTI ID:4117463
For the accurate measurement of Pu contents in process streams, Pu is usually determined on a milligram scale by reducing Pu to the trivalent state followed by quantitative oxidation to the tetravalent state by ceric sulfate. The principle of the method is discussed in detail, and the factors affecting the oxidation-reduction titration are described. Equipment for the titration is also described. Other potentiometric methods for Pu are considered briefly. Finally, procedures are given for the determination of Pu in Pu metal, alloys, and process solutions. (D.L.C.)
