IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO THE PRODUCTION OF HIGH-INTENSITY MAGNETIC FIELDS

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4115090
The magnetic field to be amplified is produced at the center of a cylindrical vacuum chamber. An iron or steel envelope surrounds the chamber and a chemical explosive surrounds the envelope. The azimuthal field of a conductor is compressed by the implosion of the metal envelope induced by the explosion of the external annular chemical explosive. The axial conductor is formed by a column of ionized gas through which an electric current passes. This apparatus is capable of 10/sup 7/ gauss. (R.E.U.)
