NUCLEAR REACTOR

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4114858
A reactor is known comprising a series of vertical channels each loaded with a pole of fuel elements, some of which are provided with thermocouple junctions connected with the outside of the reactor via conductors disposed in the fuel elements arranged above the thermocouple fuel element. A telescopic thermocouple rod, placed at the upper end of the channel serves for the connection of all the thermocouples with the outside. An auxiliary thermocouple junction is provided on the telescopic rod for measuring the coolant exit temperature at the charging face of the reactor core. In a first embodiment the latter junction is fixed on the outer surface of the rod, while in another embodiment this junction is supported at a distance from the rod surface either outside the rod or within the hollow rod. The junction may also be shielded from thermal radiation. (IIB)
