LINEARITY OF PHOTOMULTIPLIERS: EFFECT OF DYNODE CURRENTS (in French)

Journal Article · · Onde Elec.
OSTI ID:4112962

The amplification of cathode current of a photomultiplier with the classic circuit, with one high-voltage supply, and by-pass capacitors, cannot be linear, owing to the effect of dynode currents. The variation of load dynode potentials is calculated, as well as the resulting gain distortion. Two new gain- regulating designs are proposed, using two highvoltage supplies. Oatput is made at the anode, or at a definite dynode. The circuits give a high linearity with respect to amplitude and frequency. (auth)
