Observations over a 3-yr period are reported on the blood picture in dogs exposed to chronic low-level gamma radiation, chronic low doses of Sr/sup 90/, and the combined effects of chronic external gamma exposure and internal Sr/sup 90/. All radiation doses were less than two orders higher than the maximum permissible levels. The total absorbed dose in the skeleton averaged 2355 rads. Analyses of perpheral blood were performed every month and sternal punctures were performed every 2 months. Data are presented on changes in hematopoiesis and in behavior of the dogs observed at various times during the period of exposure. (C.H.)
