The design and construction of two neutron spectrometers are described. The first is a one-circle apparatus with discontinuous angle advance. The angle accuracy is 0.2 min. The second spectrometer uses a fixed monochromator and a discontinuous nonequidistant angle advance. The properties of BF/sub 3/ counters are discussed. An arrangement for the calibration of the spectrometer with a Po- Be source is described. Rules for optimal beam collimation are given. The absorptivity of Bi filters is studied. (Gmelin Inst.)
