Patent ·
OSTI ID:4105307
A device was designed for shutting down automatically a fluid-cooled reactor in the event of overheating of the reactor. The apparatus consists of a containing vessel for neutron-absorbent gas arranged in the outlet space of the coolant flow path and provided with at least one pipe opening into the inlet space of the coolant flow path. The mouth of the pipe has a pressure-responsive closure member arranged, in operation, to open automatically when a predetermined gas pressure in the vessel is exceeded so that neution-absorbent gas is admitted to the reactor.
