PHASE- AND VERTICAL STABILITY OF MICROTRONS

Journal Article · · Nuclear Instr. & Methods
The phase and vertical stabilities of an 8-orbit 2-Mev microtron were investigated and it is found that owing to the poor phase stability only 7% of the current intensity remains available for acceleration. The vertical drift caused further losses amounting to 90% of the current intensity. The actual output of the apparatus was 0.4% of the electron current fed into the first orbit. A simple method is proposed for improving the phase stability. (auth)
