This review concerns general problems associated with isotope applications in biochemistry, techniques of detection and counting, properties of the most frequently used radioisotopes, labeling techniques, and specific applications. The role played by tracers in knowledge gained in photosynthesis is discussed with reference to the chemical reactions involved in the conversion of CO/sub 2/ to carbohydrates. (BBB)
