THE USE OF RADIOACTIVE ISOTOPES IN HAEMATOLOGY

Journal Article · · Journal of Medical Laboratory Technology (England) Changed to Med. Lab. Technol.
OSTI ID:4120250

Basic principles of radioactivity are outlined, pertinent terminology defined, and practical applications of isotopes in clinical diagnosis reviewed. The investigation of patients by radioisotopes is only advocated where an answer can not be found by more simple procedures, although little hazard is involved in tracer work. The doses of the radioisotopes given are extremely small and in general the half life of biologically important isotopes is short. (BBB)
