Enrichment of Chromium-51 by Szilard-Chalmers Process

Journal Article · · Journal of the Chinese Chemical Society

Enrichment of chromium-51 by the Szilard-Chalmers process was studied, using potassium and ammonium chromate as target materials. Separation of enriched phase from the target was carried out by ion exchange method. An enrichment factor as high as 3000 was attained for a potassium chromate target. When ammonium chromate was used as the target, the enrichment factor was much lower, amounting only to 150.
