The experimental basis of neutron diffraction, which permits the scattering of monochromatic neutrons on solids and the recording of the intensity and position of the spectra originated, is described. By using the neutron diffraction spectrometers placed in the Garching Research Reactor as a special example, detailed engineering data and construction procedure of the spectrometer and of the electronic measurement apparatas and automatic recording devices are given.
