THE NEUTRON METHOD OF DETERMINING BORON CONTENT IN ROCK SAMPLES

Results are presented of the application of the neutron method in the determination of the boron content in rock samples. A device with a Ro-Ve neutron source possessing an activity of 10/sup 6//sec, a paraffin moderator, and a neutron detector was prepared for the purpose of carrying out the experiment. The method of analysis consists of relative measurements of the degree of the reduction of intensity of the neutron flux during the passage of moderated neutrons through the sample being studied and a standard sample under similar geometric conditions. The sensitivity threshold of the method amounts to 0.05% B/ sub 2/O/sub 3/ in the case of a sample weighing 100 gms. (OTS)
