CUTS IN THE ANGULAR-MOMENTUM PLANE. PART I

A study is made of the Feyniman diagram for which Amati, Fubini, and Stanghellini propose the existence of cuts in the angular-momentum plane. It is concluded that such cuts are not present in the complete diagram, though they exist in each of the dispersion diagrams corresponding to it. Amati, Fubini, and Stanghellini had only considered one dispersion diagram. These results apply only to a particular class of Feynman diagrams, not to all diagrams. From the results it can be shown that the conclusions of the previous paper must be modified when the spinning particles are not elementary. Finally, it is pointed out that the remaining divergencies of the strip approximation are cancelled by other terms. As these terms involve multiparticle intermediate states, it is not evident how to include them in a practical calculation. (auth)
