STUDY OF THE REACTION $pi$$sup -$$p$$Yields$$pi$$sup 0$ + (CHARGE) BETWEEN 0.5 AND 1.5 Gev/c (in French)
The angular distribution of gamma rays in the pi /sup -/ + p interactions was obtained. Integration of the distribution, with appropriate corrections, gave the effective cross section for pi /sup -/-p yields gamma plus or minus charged particles from which the effective cross section for pi / sup -/-p yields pi /sup O/ + charged particles was obtained. Analysis of the total cross section in terms of an I = 1/2 resonance causing its maximum at 730 Mev/c indicated an assignment of J = 3/2 for the 730-Mev/c resonance. (D.C.W.)
