IN VIVO TRANSFER OF RADIOSELENIUM, Se$sup 75$, ACROSS THE PERICARDIUM OF DOGS
The time course of change in concentration of Se/sup 75/ after introduction into the pericardial fluid in dogs is presented. Serial studies of whole blood, plasma, and erythrocytes indicated that the isotope was detectable in the blood 30 min after the beginning of the experiment and that a low level of radioactivity persisted throughout the observation period in plasma and erythrocytes. Urine was found to contain a trace of Se/sup 75/. The isotope was rapidly removed from pericardial fluid in the 4-hr observation period. Previous investigations of the kinetics of transfer of Mg/sup 28/, Cd/sup 115m/, Rb/sup 86/ , K/sup 39/, Na/sup 24/, Na/sup 23/, Cl/sup 36/, and Cl/sup 35/ ac ross the pericardium of the dog are discussed.
