A sampling device is designed for remote sampling of radioactive liquids and is an extension of the apparatus disclosed in Patent No. 776,8I7 to permit sampling of liquids at random depths in storage vessels. Tbe device comprises two body members slidably movable relative to each other, with an elastomer- capped sampling bottle fastened to one member and a sampling hypodermic needle fastened to tbe other member in coaxial alignment with the bottle. The device is lowered into a tank of liquid to the desired depth and then adjusted so that the bottle cap is punctured by the pointed end of the needle and sampling is initiated. After the sampling is completed, the device is raised and tbe bottle is withdrawn from the needle. (D.L.C.)
