INVESTIGATION OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF ARGON-FILLED SPARK CHAMBERS (in Russian)

The counting characteristics of a spark chamber are investigated by means of a Wilson chamber. lt is shown that the apparent increase in efficiency in the plateau region is caused by spark discharges not coming from particle tracks. Preliminary calculations are made on the amplitude of the high voltage pulses supplied in the spark gap. The relation between the diameter of the spark channel, the high voltage pulse amplitude, and the discharge capacity is investigated. (tr-auth)
