SUPERCONDUCTIVITY OF Nb$sub 3$Sn IN A PULSED MAGNETIC FIELD

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Letters

The critical current of Nb/sub 3/Sn wires clad in Nb is measured at 4.2 deg K and at 0 to 130 kgauss. The effects of both longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields are studied. The magnetic field is pulsed, and current pulses of 30 to 150 mu sec are passed through the sample at the peak of the magnetic field pulses. The superconducting-normal transition time and the sample resistance are also measured. (T.F.H.)
