HIGH-FIELD Nb$sub 3$Sn SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETS BY MAGNETIC-FIELD STABILIZATION

Journal Article · · Appl. Phys. Letters
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1063/1.1753979· OSTI ID:4079539
the production of critical currents in Nb/sub 3/Sn coils by providing coil stability in a background field is reported. The Nb/sub 3/Sn magnet yielded 92 kgauss in a 1.27-cm ID winding at 4.2 deg K. A small 210-gauss/amp coil was operated up to straight-sample critical currents with an inner field of over 100 kgauss when operated in a background field or 80 kgauss. (C.E.S.)
