DETERMINATION OF THE CONCENTRATION OF CHARGED PARTICLES IN A LOW-PRESSURE DISCHARGE FROM Hbeta LINE BROADENING

Journal Article · · Opt. Spectry. (USSR) (English Transl.)
OSTI ID:4063078
Measurements were made of the charged-particle concentration in a d-c neon discharge at pressures of 5 to 40 mm Hg and currents of 0.2 to 1 amp, from the H/sub BETA / line broadening, and the results were compared with two-probe measurements. Knowing the gas temperature and the measured width of the H/sub BETA / line, the ion concentration can be obtained from the curves plotted. The results showed that the ion concentrations are in good agreement for all values. (P.C.H.)
