PHASE EQUILIBRIA BETWEEN B$sub 2$$O$$sub 3$ AND REFRACTORY OXIDES: THE SYSTEMS BeO-B$sub 2$$O$$sub 3$ AND ThO$sub 2$-B$sub 2$$O$$sub 3$

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4051184

The system BeO-B/sub 2/O/sub 3/ was found to have only one stable intermediate phase, 3BeO- B/sub 2/O/sub 3/, which melted above 1445 deg C. A tentative phase diagram is presented for the system B/sub 2/O/sub 3/ThO/sub 2/. The system is characterized by extensive liquid immiscibility, the intermediate phase B/sub 2/O/sub 3/ - ThO/sub 2/, and two eutectics. Selected interplanar spacings are reported for the stable phases in both systems. (See also AD- 235443.) (C.J.G.)
