INFLUENCE OF $gamma$-RAYS ON THE ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES OF GLASS DUST

Journal Article · · Acta Phys. Polon.
OSTI ID:4037731
Irradiation of glass with gamma rays produces changes in the electrification of the dust. Short irradiation (100 minutes) increases whereas long irradiation diminishes the dust electrification. Dust of glass irradiated and heated shows a predominance of positive charge. The results obtained can be explained by the influence of irradiation on the structure of the material and by thermal excitation of electrons through heating. (auth)
