THE RADIOPROTECTIVE EFFECT OF CYSTEAMINES (in German)

Journal Article · · Intern. J. Radiation Biol.
OSTI ID:4036480
The effects of cysteamine on survival were investigated in 20-g mice given a fractionated dose of x irradiation. Results indicated that repeated cysteamine application has radioprotective effects over a longer time. Cysteamine was administered in 0.5-ral solutions. Irradiation and cysteamine were applied at 10 to 15-min time intervals. For irradiation the animals were placed in cellulose boxes five at a time and exposed at the rate of 90 r/min. Radiation dosimetry was determined by integrated dose measurement with a 20-g mouse phantom of wet cellulose. (H.M.G.)
