Heat exchangers designed to work with fluids practically free from impurities, e.g., heat exchangers for nuclear reactor installations, are discussed. To increase the heat exchange coefficient the flow of at least one of the heat exchange fluids is led through a muitiplicity of capillary channels provided in the heat exchanger structure so as to obtain an increased exchange surface. Preferably the heat exchanger structure comprises elements, enclosing tubes through which one of the exchange fluids passes, while the other one passes from one surface of the element to its opposite surface through capillary channels provided in regions of said structure. These regions are suitably constituted of sintered metal, of an assembling of metal gratings, etc. (IIB)
