Basically the dose-meters are made of two thin glass plates or two glass wires, welded together but of different composition. One contains a large amount of boron or lithium and the other is ordinary silicon glass. When submitted to the action of neutrons, these two different glasses react differently and show a marked curvature which is proportional to the integrated neutron flux. (EURATOM)
