In order to ensure a practically linear response at different energy levels of the incident radiations, particularly when the energy level is below 0.5 Mev, an opaque absorbing casing is fitted around the device. The device itself consists of a layer of thermoluminescent substance deposited on a thin metal strip positioned close to a hot wire. The whole assembly is sealed inside a glass tube. (EURATOM)
