The indicator tube has a flat annular cathode with the surface divided inte ten sectors and a ring shaped anode, The tubs is filled with Ne + 0.1% Ar at 15 cm Hg. A gas discharge is initiated at the desired place in the tube by means of one of ten auxiliary electrodes. The control signals supplied by the transistor circuit need only make the potential of the relevant trigger differ by 5 v from that of the grounded anode, The auxiliary discharge current required to initiate the main discharge is 50 mu -amp. The tube is fed with an unsmoothed, rectified alternating voltage. (L.N.N.)
