ON THE INFLUENCE OF ANEMIC BLOOD PLASMA ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION IN ACUTE RADIATION SICKNESS (in German)

Journal Article · · Strahlentherapie (West Germany)
OSTI ID:4032595
Prelimninary results concerning the influence of the anemic blood plasma upon the effect of bone marrow transplantation after irradiation are reported. It was found that plasmna of rabbits treated with phenylhydrazine increased the survival rate of x-irradiated white male rats (LD 95) after a homnologous bone mnarrow transplantation fromn 40 to 65% (p = 0.02), if the plasmna was used at the 4th, 6th, and 7th day after irradiation. The plasmna of normrial rabbits did not show this effect. It was concluded that the change in survival timne is probably caused by the effect of erythropoietin upon the erythropoietic potential of the receiver which was increased after transplantation.
