The mounting of an ignitron on a capacitor results in a large inductance owing to parasitic inductance in the connections. In order to reduce the inductance, the ignitron housing should be designed to minimize parasitic inductance of the output cable, and the capacitor should have a large diameter center electrode and a concentric ground return located as close in as possible. A capacitor and switch assembly is described which has a total inductance of 0.04 mu h and will deliver over 1600 j in 0.75 mu sec. The assembly has been used in coaxial plasma gun banks. (D.L.C.)
