NUCLEON-ANTINUCLEON MECHANISM FOR PION-PION SCATTERING RESONANCES

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D

The Chew-Mandelstam N/D equations for pion-pion scattering were modified to include contributions from the nucleon-antinucleon intermediate state, which was esti mated in perturbation theory as well as by limitations imposed by unitarity alone. It was found that the Frazer T = 1 P-wave resonance could not be obtained by such a simple mechanism, starting from S-wave dominant solutions. (auth)
