CROSS SECTION OF THE REACTION $sup 31$$sub 15$P(n,2n)$sup 30$$sub 15$P WITH NEUTRONS OF ENERGY 14.8 Mev

Phosphorus was irradiated with 14.8-Mev neutrons and the spectrum of gamma rays emitted after the irradiation was analyzed. The ratio between the cross sections of the reactions /sup 31/P(n,2n)/sup 30/P and /sup 31/P(n, alpha )/ sup 28/Al w as determined to be 0.087 plus or minus 0.006. With the (n, alpha ) cross section equal to 98 plus or minus 12 mb, this leads to a value of 8.5 plus or minus 1.2 mb for the (n,2n) cross section. (auth)
