Peripheral Inelastic Interactions of Very High Energies; NEUPRUCIE PERIFERICHESKIE STOLKNOVENIYA PRI SVERKHVYSOKIKH ENERGIYAKH

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4028110
It is shown that in terms of the multiperipheral model, constancy of the cross-sections leads to constant inelasticity and transverse momertum of the recoil nucleon. From the asymptotic values of the total cross-sections sigma / sub NN/ = 40 mb and sigma /sub pi N/ = 22.5 mb, K = 0.36 and P = 0.47 Bev/c are obtained in the asymptotic region. A model for inelastic N --N irteractions at high, but finite, energy is suggested, which describes the creation of the two fire-balls and contains no free parameters, except sigma /sub NN/ and sigma / sub pi N/.
