Particles of dust adnering to the plate are removed by washing with petroleum ether. The residue after evaporation of the petroleum ether is wet oxidized and finally dissolved in dilute nitric acid. An aliquot of the solution is evaporated to dryness, the residue fused with sodium fluoride-sodium bicarbonate fusion mixture, and the uranium determined by measuring the fluorescence of the melt.
