BLOOD FORM AND SERUM PROTEIN CHANGES FOR RATS AFTER HIGH-DOSE WHOLE-BODY IRRADIATION WITH SIEVE PROTECTION WITH SPECIAL REGARD FOR SOME HISTOLOGICAL RESULTS (in German)
Excessive changes of blood count and protein values (hemoglobin, hematocrit, total protein, albumin, and gamma globulins decreased considerably, alpha i/sub 1/- and alpha /sub 2/- as well as BETA -giobulins increased) were observed in decreased animals after increasing the total irradiation dose from 3270 to viving animals, irradiated with 3270 and 4300 r, the changes in the corpuscular and hunaoral blood picture showed significant regeneration events as well as the typical picture of the chronlc phasis of the nonspecific dysproteinemia. This was in agreement with the histological data obtained from liver, spleen, and kidneys. Using changes in the serum protein fractions and in the microscopic appearance of thin kidney slices from 3 rats sacrificed 11 mont hs after receiving the radiation insult a radiogenlc-contracted kidney'' with significant sieve hole effects could be found. The importance of recovery of the alpha /sub 1/- and alpha /sub 2/-globulin fraction while BETA - and gamma - globulin values were still increased is pointed out. At the same time the decreased total protein and albumin values (as in a nephrotic syndrome) showed a tendency to normalize. Moreover, the effects on kidney protection by moving- field and high-voltage therapy are pointed out. (auth)
