Data are presented on the effects of a single exposure to fast neutron irradiation on the life span and morphological composition of peripheral blood in 2.5- to 3-month-old white rats weighing 172 plus or minus 2.0 g. Doses inducing 50% fatalities among the animals after 15, 30, 60, 120, 240, 300, and 420 days were found to be 408, 408, 408, 380, 362, 316, and 299 r, respectively. Differential analysis was made of the life span of animals for various dates following irradiation by 170 and 340 r. The dose-effect curve for various peripheral blood elements (neutrophils, lymphocytes, and erythrocytes) depend on the date of observation. (tr-auth)
