NUCLEOSIDE PHOSPHATE CONTENTS IN DIFFERENT ORGANS OF RATS AFTER WHOLE-BODY IRRADIATION (in German)

Mono-, di- and triphosphonucleosides were determined in blood, liver, spleen, and thymus of rats after total-body irradiation with 3000, 8000, and 20,000 r. Compared to a total-body irradiation with 800 r an increase in the radiation dose caused only a partial amplification of the radioinduced changes of the nucleosidephosphate contents. An increased radiation effect was noted only in the spleen and was determined at certain intervals after irradiation. There was no significant amplification of the changes in the thymus found after 800 r. It is assumed, therefore, that a threshold dose (800 r or below) is sufficient to cause these changes. The displacement of the nucleosidephos phates found in liver after using sublethal doses could obviously not be determined after total- body irradiation with higher doses. Possible causes of the radioinduced changes of the nucleotide metabolism are discussed. (auth)
