PREFERRED ORIENTATION OF POLYCRYSTALLINE BeO

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4012912

A study was conducted to determine when the development of preferred orientation in extruded, sintered polycrystalline BeO takes place. A series of BeO hexagonal tubes subjected to different sintering temperatures and times was analyzed by x-ray diffraction just after extrusion, after drying, after starch burning, and after sintering, The results indicate that the BeO is preferentially orientated when it is extruded, and that this orientation becomes more marked with sintering temperature and time.
