The circular polarization of 2.14-Mev gamma -quanta was determined from the first excited state of B/sup 1//sup 1/ in the B/sup 1//sup 0/(d,p gamma )B/ sup 1//sup 1/ reaction, bombarding a thick layer of B enriched to 90% in B/sup 1// sup 0/. The experimental arrangement in- cluded the detection of protons and gamma quanta emitted under an angle of 90 deg with respect to the neutron beam, using the same azimuthal angle between the 2 detectors. The polarization was found to be P gamma = (37 plus or minus 19)%, designating the sign of n = STAk/ sub d/k/sub p/! as positive. The first excited state has a spin of I = 1/2 while the correlation between circular polarization and the polarization of the last nucleus is P/sub f/ = -2P/sub sub g//sub g/ (TTT)
