ANTIPROTON-PROTON COLLISION IN THE UNITARY SYMMETRY MODEL

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Letters
The validity of the octet model with complete symmetry was tested for baryon pair production in antiproton-proton collisions. Calculations of the transition amplitudes from the S matrix lead to an inequality. Using experimental values for reduced cross sections for pp yields XY processes and assuming charge-conjugation and time-reversal invariance, it is shown that the prediction of the octet model with complete symmetry is not in agreement with experiment. The relations among the transition amplitudes for meson pair production in the Sakata model are also obtained. (L.B.S.)
