Bombarding energy dependence of charge particle multiplicities for {sup 84}Kr + {sup 197}Au at E/A = 35, 55, 70, 100, 200, and 400 MeV
- and others
Intermediate mass fragment multiplicities (N{sub IMF}) and total charged particle multiplicities (NC) have been measured with the MSU Miniball + Washington U. Miniwall 4{pi}-detector System for the {sup 84}Kr +{sup 197}Au reaction at E/A = 35, 55, 70, 100, 200, and 400 MeV. Event centrality is determined by N{sub C}, and at the lower bombarding energies a linear increase in N{sub IMF} is observed with increasing centrality. At the highest bombarding energy, N{sub IMF} increases at first, and then decreases. Comparisons of the fragment multiplicities to predictions from dynamical Plus statistical {open_quotes}hybrid{close_quotes} models are shown for all bombarding energies. The bombarding energy dependence provides a stringent test of the models, which cannot satisfactorily fit the data at present.
