Low threshold measurement of intermediate mass fragment emission from the reaction {sup 84}Kr+{sup 197}Au at E/A = 35,55, and 70 MeV

Journal Article · · Bulletin of the American Physical Society
OSTI ID:243607
Intermediate mass fragments (IMF:Z{ge}3) emitted from {sup 84}Kr + {sup 197}An reactions, at E/A 35, 55, and 70 MeV, have been measured using low threshold, high resolution ion chamber-Si-CsI(Tl) telescopes in conjunction with the MSU Miniball-Washington University Miniwall 4{pi} detector system. The observed charged particle multiplicity, N is used as a measure of impact parameter. The energy spectra of IMFs detected as backward angles show a lowering of the Coulomb barrier with decreasing impact parameter.
