NRRI summary of New Jersey Board of Public Utilities staff report: Shut-off policy and payment plans
The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) Staff, Bureau of Customer Assistance, recently completed a study of Public Service Electric and Gas`s (PSE&G`s) collection. discontinuance policies, and the Company`s operational practices as they relate to Winter Termination Program. The Staff recommended that the Board mandate that PSE&G review the low-income assistance programs described in Staff s report. The Staff also suggested that PSE&G submit a proposal incorporating the program PSE&G believes would be most effective in service area. The results of the study were presented in the form of a report, entitled Shut-Off Policy and Innovative Payment Plan Recommendations. This article summarizes the report.
